Sorting Pistachios

The perception of the month January shows an example of how pistachios can be sorted. In this case it can easily be differentiated between the nut, skin and shell. Foreign objects with different chemical composition (e.g. stones, metals, plastics ...) would be interpreted in black colour in the center configuration and white color in the configuration on the right.

By integrating a Perception System a hyperspectral camera is upgraded to a Chemical Color Camera. Using Chemical Color Imaging allows you to use your own machine vision solution to classify and sort by chemical and molecular properties.
